Our Story
Where It All Began
Before there was a brand, there was a place.
A countryside called Guavio — where Mama Stella first took me to the coffee fields as a child, and where my great-grandmother Abuelita Gabrielina taught me, without ever using the word "teach," that everything worth doing carries meaning.
She's gone now. But every bag of Guavio coffee carries something of her in it.
THE CROSSING
My name is Mateo. I'm the founder of Guavio, and this is my story.
At 18, I packed everything I had and came to the United States. Alone. Those first years were lonely in a way that's hard to put into words — but coffee shops became my refuge. I'd walk in as a stranger and somehow feel less like one. For a few minutes, I was home.
I didn't know it then, but I was chasing something I already knew.
So I went back to the source.
THE promise
Guavio is for everyone who has ever walked into a coffee shop feeling like a stranger. For the immigrant building a life from scratch. For anyone who needs something familiar to hold onto.
Every cup carries a memory. This one carries mine.
